Carseats are one of those things we have to have but don't have to throw away. All it takes is a little time and creativity to see past the buckles and straps to find a new life for a dumpster-destined piece of plastic.
From special newborn carriers to booster seats and everything in between, we've said farewell to more carseats than I care to admit. I only wish I had thought to consider an alternate option to disposal years ago.
Fly to the moon! Have you ever wanted to go to space? Let your imagination take you there! Strap into your "rocket ship" and count down to blastoff! Make it even more fun by building a rocket ship from an old box.
Use it for your next child. If your carseat is less than six years old and has remained accident-free, consider keeping it for another child. Buying or making a new cover is enough to make it "new" again. You'll be the only one who knows!
Repurposing can go a lot further than diverting things from the dump - it's also easy on your wallet!

We have an expired car seat, and I have had no idea what to do with it. I'm going to set it up as a lounge chair now - thanks! Pinned.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE the idea of a car seat lounge chair. This actually makes me excited to retire our seat!

Great tips- I let my children play with it with their baby dolls.
ReplyDeleteSo far, we've been reusing car seats with our 4 youngest ones. I was able to donate the infant car seat to Goodwill when I was finished with it which was good.
ReplyDeleteYour picture of your son sitting in the car seat reminded me of a picture I took of my 3rd son sitting in the infant car seat. He was too big for it and had his legs hanging over the side. I need to dig that one out.
Thanks for linking up at Fabulously Frugal Thursday!
Cool tips! We gave away our infant seat, but these are fun ideas for when Charlie outgrows the next one.
